Little Miss Margot is settling into her foster home much more quickly than we ever expected and she is making so much progress every single day! She loves getting belly scratches and goes crazy for the Dogswell chicken treats. This regal lady is even learning that dog food isn't half bad and has gotten much less fussy at meal time. (Though that won't stop her from looking at you adoringly if you are eating a hot dog!)
She loves to play with her foster dad and has even made an attempt or two at playing with her foster sister. All of this in less than two weeks! Margot still has her nervous moments but they are fewer and farther between and she spends a lot less time hiding out and a lot more time hanging out with her foster family and exploring her home. All she needed was love, patience and time and each day she shows us more of the wonderful dog that she is.
Margot also loves, loves, loves to go for long walks and as soon as her leash is clipped on, she can't wait to get out the door! She is a wonderful dog who just needs a permanent place to call home so that she can really settle in and shine!
Follow our foster fluffies from Waggytail Rescue on their journey as we find them their forever homes!

Where in the world is Merlin?
**UPDATE: Merlin has been ADOPTED!**
Some of you may be wondering, since we took in Margot, where our dear Merlin is. Well, once he was doing a bit better health wise and had some energy to get up and around during the day while we were gone, we discovered the poor guy had some separation anxiety and was none too pleased about us being gone. Unfortunately, he displayed this anxiety by howling and making quite a racket while we were gone, much to the chagrin of our neighbors who complained and now he is currently being boarded during the week at Cooper Square Vet Hospital where Dr. G and the staff have really taken quite a shine to the scruffy little man.
He did make an appearance as my date to the Waggy benefit last week, where he was caught on camera by the lovely Bridget, who got these amazing shots of him.
He is staying with another foster on the weekends, where he gets to spend some quality people time and is just being his wonderful self and he will most likely go with another foster outside of the city, where he won't be much of a bother if he makes a little noise when he is left alone.
At his new foster's apartment, sitting up for a treat!! |
Poor Merlin is tired of being bounced around though and just wants a forever home to call his own for the rest of his furry little life. He hasn't had it easy so far, but it doesn't stop him from just being the sweetest thing in the whole world and he would give you 110% of his love. I can't say enough great things about this dog and if our living situation were different, we would have held on to him as long as he needed us to. If you know anyone who works from home and can work on his separation anxiety issues or somewhere where him making some noise won't cause any issues with the neighbors, please contact Waggytail Rescue about fostering or adopting this amazing little dog.
PUPDATE: Merlin and I will be hanging out at Doggy Styles (46 University Place, between 9th and 10th Streets) Saturday, April 23rd from 3:00PM to 5:00PM. Come on out and meet the little guy! I'm sure that you will fall in love!
Meet (Her Majesty) Margot
**UPDATE: Margot has been ADOPTED!**
We have a new fluffy! I picked up little Miss Sassy Pants Margot on Tuesday at Manhattan ACC and she's adjusted quite well over the past couple of days. She is definitely a bit skittish but is quite content to curl up in her bed or put herself to sleep in her crate. After a week in a hectic shelter, you can't blame the lady for wanting a break from all of the chaos. We are giving her some space for now and letting her warm up to us on her own terms.
The first thing we did when we got her home was to tackle the nasty fur situation. She was in serious need of some dematting, so we broke out the brush and scissors and got to work.
Yikes! The poor girl must have been so uncomfortable with all of that nastiness stuck to her and tugging at her skin. She was also covered in dandruff and was clearly itchy so we gave her a bath some special itchy doggy skin shampoo and oatmeal conditioner. She was a real trooper and an absolute angel in the bathtub - she didn't seem to mind being bathed one bit.
That's better! Even after we cut out all of those tangles, she is still quite the fluff ball and now her coat is soft and shiny too. We'll probably take her to be professionally groomed this weekend or next so that she looks more like the regal girl that she is.
Margot seems to be housebroken and goes potty as soon as we get outside, though she is not a fan of putting on her harness or collar and will give you a bit of an attitude about it, so we are working on that. She is also a heavy girl and my guess is that she was on a steady diet of table scraps because she doesn't seem to be a fan of dog food (though she will eventually eat it when she realizes that no one is going out to pick up McDonald's for her!) She does get along just fine with our two dogs and is generally a sweet, though somewhat nervous girl who will need a bit of time to get used to her new environment and learn that people are her friends!
We need to schedule her spay surgery and a dental cleaning because her teeth are a little worse for the wear (again, probably from all of the table scraps) but once that is all taken care of, she will be ready to go to her forever home.

Guest Post: Meet Chips!
Chips is another special little guy, currently being fostered and looking for a home to call his own. He is a rat terrier/chihuahua mix and get this...the little man has the doggy version of Tourette's syndrome! He does need medication, but it only costs about $10 a month and apart from this extremely minor condition, he is a healthy, friendly, loving dog.
Watch the video below for more information about Chips and his condition.

Happy Wednesday everyone! Merlin has now been with us for a little over three weeks and we can't help but fall more in love with him every single day that he is with us. While he is still getting over a bit of a cold, he shows us more and more of that wonderful terrier spunk every single day. He does the cutest little thing where he sits with both of his front paws in the air whenever he is waiting for a treat and he is just such a well-behaved boy!
Merlin is going to be coming out to the Waggytail Rescue benefit next Thursday, April 14th, so whether you are interested in bring this amazing dog home with you or just coming out to support a great cause, please come on out. It is sure to be an absolutely amazing event.
